BUILDcap: Loans for Contractors
BUILDcap is AltCap’s dedicated loan fund to increase access to capital for minority and women contractors (MBEs & WBEs).
Whether you are an existing or emerging M/WBE, BUILDcap can give you the access to capital you need to bid and perform on more projects. A BUILDcap loan can help cover construction bidding costs or bridge cash flow from pay applications, allowing you to keep up with your payroll and make sure you have the right equipment and materials ready to go so your company can participate and perform on projects, big and small.

BUILDcap is AltCap’s dedicated loan fund to increase access to capital to minority and women contractors (MBEs & WBEs). The loan fund is specifically focused on making capital more accessible to small contractors who are not able to obtain a loan from a bank or want an alternative to a hard money lender or other high-interest financing option (e.g., credit card).
As part of the BUILDcap loan application process, MBE and WBE contractors will have access to technical assistance resources and business advisory services to ensure they are “loan ready.”

THE BUILDING PROSPERITY INITIATIVE
BUILDcap is part of the Building Prosperity Initiative, which AltCap launched in 2024 with funding from the Opus Foundation.
The Initiative is supported by a Coalition of partners comprised of The Opus Group and Opus Foundation, CrossFirst Bank, Builders Avenue, e2E, and contractor associations throughout the Kansas City region. Its purpose is to create more pathways to resources, services, and capital for minority, women, and disadvantaged contractors (MWDBEs) in the trades and construction industry.
In addition to the Coalition, the initiative offers contractors access to BUILDcap, AltCap’s dedicated loan fund for certified and aspiring MWDBE contractors.
