With $40K+ in prizes, the 2024 AltCap Your Biz Pitch Competition is set to launch!
The AltCap Your Biz Pitch Competition is gearing up for another year of big cash prizes, inspiring pitches, and community connection.
Now in its ninth year, the AltCap Your Biz Pitch Competition (ACYB) offers a stage for pioneering entrepreneurs to share their stories, business plans, and community impact for the chance to win more than $40,000 in prizes. Even not-for-profit and social impact founders can get in on the action as they vie for the $5,000 Change Maker award!
Applications for the competition will open Sept. 16 and close on Sept. 30. The Live Pitch event is set for Nov. 20.
In addition to awarding big cash prizes, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting new venue for the competition: Union Station! The beautiful, historic venue in downtown Kansas City will also serve as base camp for the 2024 Global Entrepreneur Week – Kansas City, which takes place Nov. 19-21.
“This program has helped elevate so many amazing businesses through the years and we’re thrilled to bring it back for its ninth year,” said Brant Stacy, AltCap’s Community Partnership Manager. “We’re excited to partner once again with Global Entrepreneurship Week – Kansas City to connect with the area’s entrepreneurs in an incredible, iconic venue.”
In addition to a new venue, AltCap is excited to welcome Daisy Buckët as our new emcee for the Live Pitch event on Nov. 20. A staple in the LGBT community in Kansas City for over 15 years, Daisy is an award-winning entertainer, advocate, and performer with The Kinsey Sicks. She also has raised over $100,000 for the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City and travels across the U.S. as a recording artist, drag star, and leader in the arts.
AltCap invites ambitious entrepreneurs and change agents in the Kansas City area to submit an application and pitch video that details their business vision, team, and strategies for growth. The application window opens on Sept. 16, and the deadline is Sept. 30. Please review the full contest guidelines before submitting an application.
After reviewing applications, a panel of judges will select 10 finalists who will compete to deliver the best pitch during our live pitch event on Nov. 20.
The first-place winner will be awarded $25,000, and the second-place will take home $10,000.
Previous winners of the AltCap Your Biz Pitch Competition include The Next Paige (2023), Diversity Telehealth (2022), Cafe Cà Phê (2021), and AccessAble Living (2019).
Winners will receive the following cash prizes:
1st place — $25,000
2nd place — $10,000
Change Maker (Non-profits & social-impact ventures) — $5,000
Fan Favorite (Social media contest) — $2,500
Past competition winners are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and social enterprises:
Entrepreneurs or owners of an existing business with annual revenues of less than $250,000 who are interested in growing, expanding, or starting their business.
Startups must have a business bank account created and be ready to start operation in the first quarter of 2025.
Business owners and not-for-profit entrepreneurs with a business registered and located in the 9-county KC metro area.
Only for-profit businesses can compete in the live pitch for top prizes; not-for-profit businesses will only be considered for the Change Maker Award.
You must be able to attend the in-person pitch event on Nov. 20.
Prior winners are not eligible to apply.
