AltCap Promotes Two Team Members to Boost Lending Operation and Storytelling Efforts
AltCap, an impact-focused small business lender, is excited to share the promotion of two staff members that will help advance its mission of strengthening communities through accessible capital.
Finance veteran Dawn Kennedy will now serve as AltCap’s Director of Lending, leading the non-profit Community Development Financial Institution’s lending operation to better serve entrepreneurs in California, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas.
Kennedy, who’s worked with AltCap since 2018, draws on more than 25 years of experience in banking and finance. Kennedy previously served as Executive Director of the EDC Loan Corporation and as Vice President of Bank of America, Special Assets Group.
“As AltCap has grown, I’ve seen firsthand the tremendous impact we can have in communities for the better,” Kennedy said. “I’m excited to use my experience to support our employees, serve our clients, and strengthen our community.”
Journalist and multimedia storyteller Bobby Burch will now serve as AltCap’s Marketing Manager, leading AltCap’s editorial, marketing, and branding efforts. Burch previously served as Editor in Chief of Startland News, as a reporter for the Kansas City Business Journal, and currently operates a nature photography brand.
“Community is at the core of everything we do and I feel fortunate to be in a position that supports a mission of creating a more inclusive economy,” Burch said. “AltCap encounters so many inspiring entrepreneurs with incredible stories to share. I’m thrilled to steward our brand and storytelling as we build stronger communities across the U.S.”
The duo’s promotion coincides with AltCap’s growth throughout the United States, including its recent expansion into Nebraska, Colorado, and Texas, as well as the launch of its affiliate AltCap California.
This expansion allows AltCap to build more economically-inclusive communities by providing accessible financing to more small businesses and community-focused real estate development.
Entrepreneurs in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, and California can access AltCap's range of financing products, including microloans, small business loans, ARTcap loans for artists, New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), and business development services that promote the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Since 2005, AltCap has deployed more than $300 million in capital to job-creating small business investments and community-focused real estate development projects.
